I have been a patient at Wolfeboro Family Medicine for many years, going back to before it was acquired by Huggins Hospital and was a private practice of two physicians. Communication and paperwork are always a challenge at Huggins.

These people were the WORST. They put us through a miserable experience. I needed to get the shingles Zostavax vaccine, and I have Community Care for the visit and I had a Merck form to pay for the shot. I originally contacted Huggins hospital about this, asking if the hospital gave the vaccine, or if not, if they could help me with advice. I was completely upfront about all of the above. I told them I DID NOT have a GP doctor, and that I at present only had a GYN, had just had my yearly physical there, and had told them I wanted the shingles vaccine. They didn't do it, so that is how I came to contact the hospital. A nice lady in Huggins admin. contacted WFM and spoke with their office. She also told them I was not a current patient there and only wanted the vaccine for now. THEY SAID FINE, AND TO HAVE ME CALL THEM. They TOLD HER I ONLY NEEDED A "NURSING APPT", and would get the shot. I followed up by calling them myself for the appt., reiterating all that they had been told. We have only one car, and my husband at present works 2 jobs. They had me come in on one of his rare days off from job #2, for the shot. I checked in at the window giving them my paperwork. Even though THEY told me to come in early and they would just do the shot as soon as I came in, they kept us sitting there for half an hour. The asst. then called me to come in, AND HAD ME FOLLOW HER ALL THE WAY TO THE TREATMENT ROOM, CLOSED THE DOOR, AND THEN DROPPED THE BOMB; THEY HAD DECIDED NOT TO GIVE ME THE SHINGLES VACCINE BECAUSE "I WAS NOT ALREADY A PATIENT" THERE! THEY KNEW ALL OF THIS FOR WEEKS! They had us waste gas and time we didn't have, and were COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. They used blackmail, saying I could have the shot there AFTER I MADE AN APPT. AND SAW ONE OF THEIR DOCTORS FIRST. I walked out immediately, and DID NOT make an appt.

There are maybe 2 members of office staff that are welcoming, polite, and helpful. (as they should be it is part of their job) kathy is one of the nicest ladies working there. However almost every time i speak with another office staff i am spoken to like I am stupid and less than human. They are rude and dismissive. I don't have a background in any form of medical field. As i imagine many patients don't. Obviously i have questions and may not no where or who to speak to that is a service the office personal should provide.

They continually neglect to fax my pharmacy when they needed to send a request for refill on my prescriptions ( i had contacted them atleast 48 hours in advance) this has happened on more than one occasion and has left me unable to recieve my medication for days and and even weeks at times, whenever i call to resolve these prescription issues I am spoken to rudely and condescendingly and/or ignored and not gotten back to. Until i finally have to sternly tell them I cannot be ignored any more and need my medications. I should not have to check in on them and make sure they are doing their job especially when it involves people's health and well-being

On the bright side, I have had years with WFM as my primary care physician and I have the highest possible regard for their clinical skill and commitment to patient care. My impression was confirmed by the doctors at a world-famous surgical hospital in Mass. to whom I was referred for cancer surgery. Each of the specialists there told me that my case had been very professionally handled by Wolfeboro Family and that my complex problems were being very well managed. I hope I never have to go to any other primary care provider! Susan Thievon rocks!

Sadly, I wanted the shingles vaccine so that I could minimize my chances of contracting it in the future, and all the misery, pain, expense, and damage that it could do! PREVENTIVE MEDICINE!

Today the woman i spoke with was not only rude but blatantly lied to me. Telling me (condescendingly) that they could not fax my records to an obgyn and that medical records dept needs to do this and she would transfer me there. When i had dropped off the medical record release form in person at their office no one said I had to do this they just said it would be taken care of. Upon being transferred to the medical records dept. The kind and helpful woman, kim that i spoke to informed me that this should have been handled by the practice and that it was a matter of laziness that she transferred me to medical records, but she was kind enough to take care of it for me and speak to me in a respectful and informative manner. This was not the first experience with rude staff i have had. I have been a patient there for over 10 years and have given them chance after chance.

I am through being treated like dirt and leaving their office in tears. I recommend no one go here or bring their family here.

I am sorry for the long-winded comment, but I think others should know how unprofessional and terrible WOLFEBORO FAMILY MED. is.

My last visit with my provider there the nurse practicioner was over 30 min late for my appointment and cut me short on my time because she "was 10 minutes late to see another patient" I was rushed out of the office after about 15 minutes of being seen and was not able to finish communicating with her the health problems I have been experiencing. I felt during my appointment i was not taken seriously and during it she tried to push getting an iud on me which i have continuously said i am not interested in.

My husband and I are disgusted with the unprofessional and dishonest treatment of this practice. It is clear that with them, it's a big racket, and all about the $$$$---They just want a paid doctor visit and they use blackmail to hold things you want or need over your head. Needless to say, WHO WOULD WANT TO BECOME A REGULAR PATIENT AT THIS PRACTICE AFTER AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS????

This office knew I was not a patient at the time before I ever made the arrangements for the vaccine. Even drugstores give the vacc., so there was NO reason for them to change their minds and spring the blackmail routine on me at the 11th hour. The Merck papers pay for the shot for me, but the pharmacy would not accept it.

Phone communication and appointment scheduling can be painfully slow but the staff are always helpful and polite, although often seem overwhelmed by the patient load.
